NovaServe lets local businesses take orders online through their own shop page. This notice explains what information is used when you order, and why.
Who is responsible
When you order from a shop, that shop decides how your order details are used to make and deliver it, and NovaServe (a trading name of Embermont Ltd) processes them on the shop’s behalf. If you make a NovaServe account, NovaServe is responsible for your account.
What we collect
- Your order: what you ordered, its price, and any notes you add.
- Your contact details: name and phone number, so the shop or its driver can reach you, and your email address if you give it (for receipts) or sign in.
- For deliveries, your address.
- If you pay by card online, the payment is handled by Stripe or by the shop’s own provider (SumUp). NovaServe never sees or stores your card number.
- If you have an account: your saved addresses and your orders across shops.
- If the shop runs a loyalty scheme and you give your email: the stamps or points collected on that email at that shop. You don’t need an account; to use a reward you confirm the email with a code we send to it.
- Basic technical records needed to run the service securely (for example, limits on how many sign-in codes are sent).
How it’s used
- To send your order to the shop, and to its driver for deliveries.
- To show you your order’s progress and send your receipt.
- To apply offers and loyalty rewards.
- To protect shops from fake orders: for orders paid on delivery or collection we check your phone number’s earlier orders with that shop, and count recent orders from your internet connection (using a scrambled code, not your address). If you don’t collect an order, that shop can ask you to pay by card online for future orders with it.
- To keep the service secure and to meet legal and accounting duties.
We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who it’s shared with
The shop you order from (and its staff and drivers), and the services that run NovaServe: hosting and database (Google Cloud, Supabase), payments (Stripe or the shop’s own provider), email (Resend) and the security check at checkout that stops automated fake orders (Cloudflare Turnstile). Each only receives what it needs.
How long it’s kept
Order records are kept for as long as needed for the shop’s and NovaServe’s accounts, then deleted. Account details, and stamps or points, are kept until you ask us to delete them. A shop’s note that you didn’t collect an order lasts a year, unless the shop removes it sooner.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how it’s used. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). To get in touch, use our contact form, or ask the shop you ordered from.
Cookies
NovaServe only uses what’s needed to work: keeping you signed in and remembering your basket. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
